Flu Campaign 2024

The flu vaccine helps protect against flu, which can be a serious or life-threatening illness. It’s offered on the NHS every year in autumn or early winter to people at higher risk of getting seriously ill from flu.

 

Are you eligible for the flu vaccine?

You are eligible for a free NHS flu vaccine if you;

  • are aged 65 years or over
  • are in a clinical risk groups/have certain long-term health conditions
  • are pregnant
  • live in a care/residential home
  • are the main carer for an older or disabled person, or receive a carer’s allowance
  • live with someone who has a weakened immune system
  • frontline workers in a social care setting without an employer led occupational health scheme

 

Flu Vaccinations 2024-25 – When can I get my vaccine?

Most eligible adults will be able to get the flu vaccine from 3rd October 2024.

This may be later than you’ve had the vaccine before, but it means you’ll have the best protection when flu is most widespread. Some groups may have their vaccination from 1st September 2024

 

Groups eligible for vaccination 1st September 2024;

  • all children aged 2 or 3 years on 31st August 2024
  • all primary & secondary school aged children (reception to year 11) (will be given in school)
  • aged 6 months to under 18 years in clinical risk group
  • pregnant women

Groups eligible for vaccination 3rd October 2024

  • those aged 65 years ad over (including those who are 64 but will be 65 on or before 31st March 2025)
  • those aged 18 years to under 65 years in clinical risk groups
  • those in care/residential homes
  • main carer for an older or disabled person, or receive a carer’s allowance
  • live with someone who has a weakened immune system
  • frontline workers in a social care
