Community Nurses

The District Nurses care for patients in their own homes when they are too ill or frail to attend surgery. They also offer support to families and carers.

Health Visitors

A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.

Health visitors are specialist nurses who offer advice and support to expectant mothers, and families with children under five. The health visitors are based in Children’s Centres and visit all parents and new babies and those families transferring in to the Brighton area.

Community Psychiatric Nurse

A team of CPNs is based at Millview Hospital. The CPNs are available to visit people with mental health problems at home, by arrangement with their psychiatrist or GP
