Goodbye

Dr Vanessa Lynch; sadly Dr Lynch will be leaving the practice in December.

It has been a privilege to serve you all over the last 20 years but I will be leaving Beaconsfield Medical Practice at Christmas.

We have shared both the sad moments and the happier times from our lives. From time

to time there has been the need for reassurance or a few tears. But I hope I also made a few of you laugh!

I leave you with this message.

‘Do more of what makes you happy!’

Much love

Dr Vanessa Lynch

Repeat prescriptions

Please note when ordering repeat prescriptions please do not order any more than two weeks in advance (unless there is a certain reason i.e. holiday, in which case please specify).

CQC Inspection

The Practice is delighted to announce that we have received an overall 'Good' rating from the Care Quality Commission inspection, with some 'Outstanding' points highlighted throughout the report. We always try to ensure your consultation will start punctually, but please be patient if there is a delay as this may have been due to an emergency. The practice has trained chaperones. Please ask at reception if you would like a chaperone to accompany you during your consultation.

There is also a pharmacy (under separate ownership) on site

The doctors and nurses at this surgery work to an appointment system. You can make an appointment by telephoning 01273 555401 or by calling into the practice during our opening hours. Our aim is to offer you an appointment on the same day but you can book up to 4 weeks ahead. If you need an extra long appointment, please tell the receptionist when booking, so that you can be allocated the time necessary. If you no longer need your appointment please telephone and cancel so that the appointment may be offered to another patient.

We offer additional pre-booked GP appointments on:

  • Monday evenings 18:30 - 20:00 when a practice nurse is also available for pre-booked appointments.
  • Saturday mornings 08:30 - 10:30.

The surgery phone lines and doors are closed during the extended period. If you need to cancel an appointment for one of these extended hours surgeries please telephone to cancel within office hours or cancel via our on-line booking service 24/7 (you must be registered for this service).

Access to the surgery during these times is for patients with appointments only and emergencies should be referred to the out of hours emergency service on 0845 4647 as usual. Emergencies should be referred to the out of hours emergency service.

More appointments are now available on a weekend and late evenings

We are now able to offer pre-booked appointments every weekend 8am-2pm and weeknights Mon - Fri 6.30 - 8.00pm. If these appointment times are more convenient, please let our reception team know and they can arrange for you to be seen by a doctor during these times. Nurse appointments are also available during the weekend clinics 8am - 2pm. Please note these clinics are held at Stanford Medical Centre, the other practice based in our building.

If you need to cancel one of these appointments at short notice, or when we are closed, please call 07702335868 and leave a message.

This has been made possible through the EPiC project, now underway which is dedicated to improve access to primary healthcare services in Brighton and Hove. For more information regarding this project and how it may affect you, please visit http://epic-pmchallengefund.uk/

Telephone Appointments

A doctor is available every day to talk to you on the telephone if you need advice on a health problem. If a doctor is not immediately available you will be asked to leave your telephone number and they will call you back. It is helpful for the receptionist to know the subject of the call so that relevant records can be made available to the doctor. If you wish to speak personally to a doctor, please telephone before or after morning surgery. Unfortunately we cannot telephone mobile or landlines outside the UK.

Practice Nurses

In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor. Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many ailments and you may be seen more quickly.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.

Disabled Access

There is full access for disabled patients at our surgery. This includes disabled toilets on each floor and a disabled access lift.

Wheelchair

Please note we have a wheelchair available for use within the surgery. Please enquire at reception.

Interpreting and Translating Service

We have access to interpreters for people who are unable to speak English. If you require an interpreter, please inform the receptionist when making your appointment.
